Shipping from Greece!

Postby Paphitis » Thu May 29, 2014 11:25 am

Can someone please tell me if FEDEX or DHL deliver big parcels from Greece internationally.

I ordered some expensive stuff and the supplier gave me the option of ELTA which I refused because last time my parcel just vanished into thin air! I asked about DHL or Fedex and they said no.

I don't want to use the Hellenic Postal Service ELTA. I find myself praying whenever I do and I am suppose to be Atheist!

Looks like DHL offer services from Greece:

Perhaps your vendor is not legit, tells you the items have been sent by ELTA, takes your money, and then nothing arrives and you have no tracking to help.

With regards to the missing parcel, I did have ELTA tracking so the article was consigned. However, the tracking had it go to the sorting facility in Nea Smyrna, and from there there was no further entry. 3 weeks later and there is no sign of the package!

Therefore my reluctance to use ELTA again. I offered to pay more for DHL or Fedex but the parcel I have purchased is in limbo until the merchant and I can agree to a Shipper.

Meanwhile insurance was paid for the items that went missing but getting your money back is still easier said than done.

Hellenic Postal Service - yeh right!

Where's Fedex when you need them?

I order a lot from Amazon, mostly .co.uk but a few times from .de also. They ship with various methods (for standard shipping). When they ship with UPS I get my things in 4-5 days. DHL Express takes from 1 week to 2 weeks. But sometimes they ship with Royal Mail and whatever the German equivalent is (basic DHL?) ... and the success rate with those lately is less than 50% ... I had 3 packages lost the last 12 months. Of course Amazon shipped the items again, so I didn't lose anything... but this goes to show that such problems are not just with ELTA.

And while UPS is fast and they never lost anything they seem not to be very careful. Once the item inside the box was shattered to pieces and another time half the box was wet! So they are not perfect either.

I've used DHL and Fedex and never had an issue.

My favourite was always Fedex because tracking is available every step of the way and they courier to your door.

Ebay is great. I have also used USP or is it UPS. All good there too.

That's awful. Did you find a resolution?
