Dual Citizenship

Postby zfcyp » Wed Jun 04, 2014 1:03 am

Hi,

My name is Zev, i am Australian of Cypriot decent, My sister already has her cypriot citizenship and has done for some 10 years. I have all of the paper work ready to apply for mine but the embassy here in australia has advised that it will be a 9-18month wait. I have also been advised that that time could be significantly shorter if i present myself and my paperwork in person in cyprus. Can anyone please advise me on this.

I dont really want to send of the paperwork from hear in australia and get to cyprus later this year and it be lost in the post somewhere when i could just take it with me. But also dont want to be waiting any longer then i have to?

Any and all information will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers Zev

Don't go through the Embassy in Australia. I can't tell you why but trust me.

Go direct to Cyprus and you should have your citizenship issued within 2 weeks.

I am in the same situation as above. I was born in America and contain an American passport. My dad was born in Larnaca, Cyprus and obtains a Cypriot passport. I have been to Cyprus many times to visit my family, my parents live in America, and I just finished university in the state of Kentucky. I n speaking with my football agent, I had many teams looking to me and signing to become a professional footballer. I am currently in Cyprus now looking to sign with a team. The way Cyprus football works is you must be EU Citizen to sign with Division 3 or 4 team here because those teams only allow 2 foreigners. All the teams I speak with have their 2 foreigners signed through this season. I am looking to find a team to get playing now. I have had plans of obtaining dual citizenship to Cyprus and America and I have all my papers ready. I am heading to Nicosia on Wednesday to get things sorted. I was wondering what else I need to do in order to get my dual citizenship as quickly as possible. I am unaware of the time frame to acquire this and I was wondering if any of you have any information confirmed in helping me reach a solution. I can play for a division 1 or 2 team here in cyprus but I will have to wait till after the season in the summer to sign because most of them are not looking for players in the middle of the season. Once I get my Cyprus citizenship as well as obtaining my American citizenship I can get signed immediately and make a little bit of money for now until I can get signed by a bigger club and make money for my family back home in America.
