...it is the world which says it is illegally occupied, (except one country, of course).

Nah! It's only the Greek Cypriots and Greece whom say that repulsewarrior, while the rest of the world demand a UN Based "Comprehensive" settlement. The North, at this moment, is a functioning state whether you should accept it or not when it's acknowledgement going deeper on a daily basis the longer it take for a compromise. If anything is to go by since 1974, I wouldn't be surprised if we continue as we are for another 50 years....long past our lives on this planet and to a point where the EU's geo-political situation will accept us by default. If you believe I am wrong, simply look at how much the TRNC has changed since its declaration since 1983:

1) It's still the TRNC...not dissolved!
2) Many known international representatives cross over and greet our people and leaders.
3) We have many multinational companies in operation in the TRNC, whether licensed by Turkey or not, they are there and functioning.
4) We can take a plane from many other countries in the world, and with one 45min stop over in Turkey, Fly into Ercan International Airport.
5) The TRNC Hosts many events; sea and land, involving many countries.
6) The last Children's celebration day saw children from all of the Turkic states, including many from the EU, Russia and China join us in our Lefkosa Ataturk Stadium. This event happens every year.
7) We are recognised by Turkey.
8) We are recognised as an Observer "Turkish Cypriot State" by the OIC, and acknowledged by many other countries at least as a functioning state, including France, UK and Germany where our Federations and Associations have hundreds/thousands of members and representatives,
9) The GC lead ROC has NO EFFECTIVE Control of the North.
10)....I will continue this list later as my fingers are getting tired of typing!
