The AFC is not an easy competition to win. There are a lot of quality countries playing there and you saw 4 of them at the World Cup.

There are a few that didn't qualify and are a better team than Greece, such as Egypt, Tunisia, and Saudi Arabia.

Greece I don't rate at all after seeing them play total shit Football.

Probably Cyprus could win the AFC with their U-21 squad. Unfortunately we are not Asians.

I really don't think so.

Greece couldn't win the AFC because the set ups in Japan and Australia are pro whereas Greece only has 4 reasonable teams in its First Division.

It is a completely different league.

And yes, both Australia and Japan are ranked higher than Greece in the all time rankings from 1960 and onwards.

Look again at the rankings from the mid 1960s and onwards.

Greece is 32nd, and Australia is 25th. So Australia is stronger on average over the last half century.

From 1960..sure. Accurate chart. Looks like the Soviet Union is doing pretty well too!

If it's anything like the influence on the tennis circuit, Australia's rise to sporting 'prominence' ( :P ) must be due to the influx from the 1960s of Greeks . :D

Australia has produced many Tennis Champions, which were all products of Australia's sophisticated and advance development programs.

Btw, he is Malaysian too. But if he was in Greece he would not get the support needed like Sampras they choose to kiss the hand that feeds them!

I'm glad you agree!

The thing is, if you are going to talk about rankings then you can't pick and choose. Australia has outperformed Greece in Football over the last half century.

It's like Baghdatis! The RoC has neglected his development and now it's just like CBBB says - Gone Marcos!

Now, if this rare talent had the Aussie Sports Machine behind him, he would have been Wimbledon and Australian Open Champ at least once if not more!

I'm afraid your knowledge of football is deteriorating fast Paphiti. Check the FIFA rankings or any other rankings and Greece is a minimum of 20 positions above your pub team. You've gone and found some obscure ranking from 1960 (why 1960? Why not from 1940, or 1910? What's wrong with 1938?) and claimed it as a credible ranking system when it includes countries that don't even exist anymore!!

Once again stick to cricket and let us Europeans and Latin Americans deal with football.
