when they blow bombs in your country then you have no right to object. they will treat you with the same respect you afforded them in their own country.

The fact that the enemy has tried to do this over and over again, is the reason why the SAS and ASIS exist. The fact that the enemy has been unsuccessful thus far is probably because the SAS and ASIS exist to do what is necessary to keep us safe.

I thank them and respect the hard job they do. May they be safe always!

A JStar spotted 17 Army Vehicles, and the USAF called in an Air Strike in Afghanistan. Some SAS soldiers went to survey the area just moments before the Americans where going to hit and saw that the 17 Landrovers belonged to the Australian SAS. A few minutes more and the Americans would have wiped the out. Stupid idiots!

They would never have been forgiven for that one.

It's a true story told by the former retired SAS commander in Afghanistan.

Send your boys over for some training.

Yes it's true. You don't want to mess with the Australian military and in particular the SAS.

It's the only military in the world that knows how to execute a precision operation with surgical accuracy due to great planning and superior intelligence aside from the IDF. East Timor!

Hate to tell you this mate but your superpower is ranked 20th in the world's military coming under Poland, Indonesia and Taiwan.

It's got nothing to do with rankings when ADF units are sort after in every little theatre to do some really gritty stuff.

If we actually had a threat and re-introduced mandatory service, then we can easily be ranked in the top 6 and they have an unlimited budget. Expenditure wise they are ranked 6th at 30 Billion. That buys a lot of toys for 55,000 active members.

They are more geared for rapid deployment around the globe for trouble spots like Iraq and Syria. They don't have a requirement to defend Australia from an invasion force.

They have strategic capabilities second to none. So yes, they are a superpower capable of fighting the crudest of wars. You just need to look at the inventory and its ability to deploy assets to far away places. F-18F, AWACS, AWD, submarines, carriers and very soon the F35 and F22. When they deploy, it will only be in small units. They don't want to invade anyone.

They are very good at fighting the Taliban, IS and Black Ops is what they are good at as well as Intelligence Gathering which is beyond belief. Terrorism seems to be our biggest threat as much as anyone else. Cyprus however faces Turkey and if that were the case in Australia, we would have 1 million active members all trained and kitted out within 1 or 2 years.

Can I ask you why Indonesia retreated out of East Timor when the ADF landed only 2 kms from their positions?

They should have stayed and won because of their higher rank and have a military that is bigger than Turkey.

But of course the airspace and the sea was already in our control and there was nothing they could do.

It's not a numbers game.

Anyway, we don't have to be a superpower because there is no significant threat to warrant it and we don't intend to invade and occupy. We only need to be able to do a few things very well to protect our interests and maybe fight a few terrorists or do a humanitarian or disaster relief airlift etc etc. they can do all that very well and they can strike if they need to with 0 casualties.

At the moment, they only need to be good enough to chase a few bearded goat shaggers with cockney accents in the Iraqi desert and then run away whenever the Americans are in the air. If they had to face the superior CNG then even the SAS might be in trouble because they don't eat their Koupepkia!
