politiki kouzina - instabul kitchen - a touch of spice

Postby cypezokyli » Mon Dec 05, 2005 1:48 am

i just saw the movie...quite late i guess. i checked the entertainment thread and couldnt find sth...so:

i liked it. for a greek film it was quite good. i liked a lot the spices in the film, and the strong pictures. the story was...ok.
i had to cry when they had to leave instabul.

the most beautiful scene was: instabul was called "the city" because it was the most beautiful city of the world...when we dreamed of greece from instabul it was much nicer than what we found when we came.

i always wanted to visit instabul, and i am not really sure if i need a visa to do so..but now i want to go even more.

also, since it is closely connected to politics, i have to say this: if it is true, as presented in the film that the greeks of instabul were deported as a concequence to our stupidity in cyprus then it makes me feel even more guilty. some people could even argue that it would have happened anyway...i dont know, but even in that case i am still sorry that we put oil in the fire.

PS could someone give me the türkish name of the film?. thanks

I have not seen the film. I don't know what the relation between Greeks in Constantinople and Greek Cypriots could be (apart from belonging to a race that the Turks hate) however I wouldn't be surprised if the Turkish state would use every excuse possible in order to perform ethnic cleansing.

the film is in three languages greek turkish and english (its a greek-turkish co-production), so unless u r not a real cypriot comanding all three official languages then u ll just have to use subtitles. i found it extremely funny that the greeks in instabul were using turkish not only when they came to contact with turks, but also when a fight between a couple would overheat :)

i do propose it to all those who didnt watch it , as well to those who saw to watch it once again..

Yeap, indeed it is a very good film. I watched it at the local cinema when it was out... My mistake??? I went to the cinea without having dinner... Result??? As soon as the film finished I passed by KFC for a basket of wings!!! :) If you purchase the DVD film, a DVD or booklet with recipies is included as well, and I plan to purchase it as well.
