Bringing cats into cyprus

Postby Susan66 » Sat Oct 25, 2014 10:22 am

Hi, I want to bring my cats into cyprus from Saudi....I can't seem to find any info on the rabies shots that they must have is it yearly or every two or three years?
Has anyone had any first hand experience bringing cats into cyprus from a non EU COUNTRY?

If it's not wearing a burka and strapped with explosives I'm sure it'll be fine. :D

Have you tried inquiring with the Consulate of Cyprus in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia?

The old rabies shots needed to be done annually but the new ones last for up to 3 years. You need to check with the vet offering the shots which one they are using in Saudi. The vet updating your pet passport should also have all the up to date information for taking your cat into the EU.

Cyprus not the EU!

Don't substitute Cyprus for EU!

It might be semantics or pedantic to you, but it is important!

We Brought one in belonging to my elder boy from Russia.

Vetinary service here were very helpful: The cat must be chipped and have a pet passport. Just make sure the rabies and other shots have been administered in the appropriate time frame, as some need to have been done a few weeks before travel. Otherwise make sure all the paper work is available. make sure veterinary services know your arrival details so they can inspect. Get a good cat box. Listen to the cat Miaowing all the way on the plane.
