Ο Πιλότος έκλαιγε την ώρα της προσγείωσης

Translation: The Captain of CY337 broke into tears on approach to Larnaca last night.

I hate to say this, a person who loves aviation from all angles, but most airlines are like any other private businesses and must be able to support it self by making a profit, or at least not get into a big debt. Airline industry has many fluctuations that can cause the company into a tailspin which some are not able to recover from, therefore, it is a very difficult industry to manage, specially a very small company like Cyprus Airways. Swissair went belly up about 10 years ago for the same reasons. Lufthansa came in and cleaned up the mess and made Swiss a daughter company and doing well. Many major airlines went out of business in the last 25 years or so and since then, many major airlines have consolidated to remain in the business. Most blame de-regulation for all this mess, but in a free market (capitalism), anything goes. In any case, most of the Cyprus Airways pilots will get jobs elsewhere, no problem, but it won't be so easy for the flight attendants and the ground crew. Wish them all the best for the future.

Everyone should just relax because there’s a BIGGER and BETTER Cyprus Airways airline coming soon! :)

Kikapu, you have said nothing that I do not agree with.

They had many years to do something. They even employed Air France Consulting and did not implement anything from the restructuring plan.

Unfortunately, I smeel a very dirty rat here.

I want to know if the Ministers of the Cyprus Cabinet are going to disclose their share holdings in Aegean Airlines.

There will be developments in the coming days where Aegean will announce the "new" Cyprus Airways complete with Flying Mouflon and I would even be surprised if they are embargoed from Turkish Airspace.

Once again we have been betrayed my friend.

THIS IS CYPRUS AFTER ALL. Kratos Skata!

Yes, partly owned by Turkish Airlines.

But it's ok because your politicians have undisclosed shares and a CONFLICT OF INTEREST!

Mate, if this shit happened anywhere else, there would be hell to pay!

Have you ever wondered why there are so many Greek Pilots flying for Turkish Airlines?

Yes, partly owned by Turkish Airlines.

Rubbish! You don't know anything about this initiative because it hasn't been announced yet so be quiet!

The Aegean airlines is IRRELEVANT to this and frankly I couldn't care less what happens to them.

I know more than you think!

Aegean positioned aircraft at Larnaca 2 days before the closure was announced.

Ryanair and Aegean have applied for AoCs.
