The conservative left, the major problem of post junta Greece, is alive and well. Any of you notice the copying of Andreas Papandreou's body language and speaking style by Tsipras? That was creepy.

There is one PR advantage though, standing next to Erdo the thug, Tsipras will definitely seem the more civilised leader.

So from all the bravado he has backflip and taken up all of Nea Dimokratia's policies?

So why not just elect Samaras again and let Greece continue its path to what we hope is eventual recovery and growth to begin with?

I didn't think he was going to keep his promise of default and confrontation against the EU. That should have been done in 2010 but after 5 years of Austerity that train has left the station.

Not a bright idea tossing 5 years of hard work and sacrifice down the drain.

Shitheadedness, bloody mindedness, you choose. The economy was righting itself, the projected growth for 2015 was 3 per cent, the highest in the Eurozone, this much they were told, by foreigners, not locals with an axe to grind. And that is when they decided that austerity is intolerable and the new mob is going to return them to the pre crisis standards of living.

The longer I live here the less I understand them. People born in the 1970s and 80s "remember" the civil war that ended in 1949 and vote accordingly.

Seeing this, and the circus that is Turkey, I ssee why both motherlands want to obliterte Cyprus, it is embarassing to have a serious, functioning state that contrasts with their karagiozilikia.

Nikitas, let me put it in a ...colourful way!
Why don't both of these foreign nations FO and leave us Cypriots in charge of our own ETHNOS, the island of Cyprus.

ETHNOS, i like that word! Cyprus has one. Except for the "Greeks", and the "Turks", amongst us, the rest of us can see the value in it.

...sometimes i wonder if their is real progress that the left must go to such extremes, equal and opposite forces are implied. However, promising to return to something, rather than a movement toward something better appears to be their mistake. It implies they want 'the same', just less of the harsh stuff (and maybe some forgiveness). In the coming days to win the hearts and minds of Greeks, Tsipras will have to demonstrate what he will do with a Drachma. And it will be up to the EU to develop a plan for the Quantative Easing they've declared they'll execute, to include Greece in this scenario.

I still find it curious that his ally, to make a majority, is in essence an opposite; but i know so little of these men's intentions.

They don't seem to have any direction at all.

The lied to the electorate with all the bravado but when they got elected they saw the reality and what the EU will do to Greece and have as a result adopted Nea Domokratia's policies lock stock and barrel.

It's all a stupid farce.

As if the EU is gonna take any shit from Tsibras. That will be the day!

Germany can’t be allowed to strangle Syriza at birth. The fate of millions across Europe depends on it

Yeh they all said they will cooperate with Syriza but in the end and behind the scenes they would have mentioned Grexit. Maybe Tsibras didn't know what that means so then they mentioned Cuba.

Tsibras quickly adopts the New Democracy program.

This is another example of how Greeks don't give a damn about the country. It's all about me in Greece but little did they know that Tsibras bravado would have turned the lights out completely.

In the end, the EU is picking up the tab in Greece and paying the utilities so they get to run the show.
