we are also moving to cyprus shortly,
and had looked into bringing our car
but according to the websites we have looked on
the car cannot be older than 5 years old, and with household goods you must have owned them for at least six months before moving!

Hi Sophia

Yes, you will need to get Department of Transport permision to import a vehicle over 5 years old; if you intend to work here and therefore not be entitled to Duty Free vehicles, the import duty will be very high as they penalise the import of older vehicles. To import it DF, if you are so entitled, you must have owned the vehicle for at leats six months.

You will not pay Duty on used personal items, even if they are a few weeks old; if they are new take them out of their packages :-)
