why constrain women for that matter?
can a woman love 2 men at the same time?
how can love be a sin?
in the earlier times as history shows it was quite common for a man to have several women and if it was a matriarchial society a woman had several men.
things change over the course of time and since men could not afford to have so many women and support them and the children, it was gradually wiped out.

Maybe one can "love" many men/women at the same time but not with the passionate strong love were you keep one person in your mind dreaming about him/her at every moment.
That can only happen with one person, not more.
