The Islamic State governor of Mosul, Ibrahim Younis Hamdani, was killed in an American airstrike Wednesday according to the Iraqi Defense Ministry.

“Today, the ISIS governor was killed by US-led airstrikes in the Mosul neighborhood of Badoush in western Mosul,” the ministry said in a statement. “Ibrahim Younis Hamdani was on the way to Badoush areas when the warplanes bombed his convoy.”

Islamic State militants have blown up a historical mosque in their latest destruction of historical landmarks in the city of Mosul, according to a Kurdish official.

“The Islamic State militants blew up the historical mosque of Bakr al-Afandi in Mosul’s western neighborhood of Bab Al-Top on Wednesday,” Saeed Mamuzini, a media officer of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in Mosul, told Rudaw on Wednesday.

“ISIS blew up the mosque under the pretext of it having shrines inside, which is forbidden,” Mamuzni said. “The mosque of Bakr Al-Afandi was established in 1207.”

Earlier this month, ISIS also blew up the nearly 200-year-old Maryam Khatoon Mosque in Mosul, Mamuzni told Rudaw.

Kurdish forces are also active around Mosul. Could it be that this town’s liberation from the inhuman DAESH occupation is going to come sooner than we dared to hope?

An official source from the Special Forces of the Kurdish Peshmerga in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq reported that their fighters launched several attacks on IS headquarters near the village of Asheq west of Mosul in northern Iraq.

The source added that the Kurdish fighters, supported by the coalition’s warplanes, were able to kill dozens of IS militants on Tuesday, and destroy a number of the group’s armored vehicles.

According to the source, the IS radical group was planning to launch an attack on the Peshmerga’s positions in Kasak area, which is considered a fighting frontline between the Kurds and the militants west of Mosul.

The Rudaw news agency adds that Peshmerga forces have also been busy east of Mosul. “With the help of the coalition airstrikes, the Peshmerga managed to bombard two ISIS convoys near a kerosene factory in the village of Ishk on the Tigris front,” Kurdish Captain Dilshad Maulood announced on Monday, adding that a number of the Islamic State’s military vehicles were also destroyed.

They are getting the best intelligence available.

Keep the faith brother. At the end of the day, all brutal regimes like this have one thing in common. They implode on themselves, and when this happens, we will be there to finish them forever.

Essentially, they are a doomsday cult who believe they are bringing the end nigh and, since it is known that the universe will go on for tens of billions of years yet, when doomsday fails to come, they, too, will be doomed.
