Cash, Bank Deposit or VISA for Greece?

Postby Paphitis » Mon Jun 08, 2015 1:31 am

So what are the best options for travel to Greece?

Do you think I should have all my travel money in a Greek Bank account?

Or is cash King in the back pocket? Just have to watch out for Greek Pick Pockets of course.

What about VISA? Should be ok if there are no capital controls.

Cash for the day to day, though you will need a valid credit card to rent a car in big places. Small island car rental is OK with cash.

Yeh thanks Nikitas.

I know it is all good really. It's not the first time I have traveled to Greece and it is a country I will always travel to because it's magnificent.

I must admit, I am carrying quite a bit of cash, in amounts I wouldn't normally do + I have my trusty magic plastic (VISA). So a Bank freeze is something we have to think about unfortunately.

BTW, we could catch up maybe if your keen? I will be in Athens for a bit.
