My no.3 on my Rip off list.
090 numbers

Ever since the invention of these premium con numbers, millions of UK citizens have been fleeced by the operators of this premium numbers ie a scam.

Many naive users searching for a number be it a government or other department will come across these crooks charging anything from £20 to £30 for just one call.
" Searches for car tax discs, renewing your driving licence and completing tax your return are some of the areas currently prone to these premium rate number scams."

It is a blatant scam yet they are allowed to continue conning people off.

Competitions asking stupid qusestions designed to con people by obvious answers to a given question in order to attract the naive individual who calls these numbers given the obvious answer that everyone knows. Questions such as.
A. London is the capital city of the UK
B. London is the capital city of ...Cyprus
C. London is the capital city of ....Belarus !!

Such idiotic money generating so called competitions offering prizes are common.

Due to ill health I interrupted the completion of my list, just about recovered, two more to go, again I emphasize that I do not wish to be a boring old sod so I will shortly take off from where I left off....

My number 2 on my list of UK Rip offs.
The UK has perhaps the most perfect of all governing systems in the world. We have democracy, freedom of speech and freedom of faith.
The law is above all, citizens of the UK are free to go where they want , live anywhere they wish and above all we have the right to express our views on any institution be it the monarchy, the government or what Im about to expose as the second biggest con perpertrated on the British public.

Year after year politicians are priviledged to appoint new members to the house of Lords.
To the best of my knowledge no one has yet declined the invitation. I wonder why.

Memembers of the House of Lords have no salary, so we are told but have a daily attendance allowance of £300 even if the attendance is for long enough to sign in.
TAX FREE !!!
The minimum wage in the UK, subject to age is around £6.50 per hour , this equates to around £50 per 8 hour shift, TAXABLE !!

The Lords simply have to pop in and pop out £300 better off, a worker has to earn more than £375 for a 56 hour shift to finish up with £300 !!

An oudated system that the establishment has rigidly supported for no other reason than ulterior financial rewards.

Not clear how many have declined a seat in the House of Lords. A knighthood does not mean a seat in the Lords.

All of them from 'Dukedom' through to "Life peerage (barony)" would grant a seat in the House of Lords.

My only concern here is with accuracy. Many people have declined honours that would have granted them a seat in the house of lords. That is just fact.

By a long way this must be the biggest rip off ever in the UK
PAYDAY LOANS.
More than a million UK citizens borrow money from these sharks, unscrupulous lenders who have the audacity to advertise their sharo practices on TV, Radio and other media offering loans at over 1000% !!!
Apparently is quite legal for these exploiters ro fleece people. On radio they often refer to the APR in numbers , ie instead of saying one thousand two hundred and ninety five per cent the say APR, ONE TWO NINE FIVE, geared towards the naive and despearate. A bloody disgrace in my opinion.

Judge for your selves .
