If that’s the Turkish water appearing at the other end then I guess there’s no need for that stupid thread to continue anymore and we can hopefully move on to more important things.

Funny thing is that the Turks think that we want that water and that they can use it as a bargaining chip  Personally (and I think I speak for the majority of Cypriots) I would never accept to anything that would make as dependent on Turkey in any way ... I'd rather get our water more expensive via desalination (when rainfall is not enough) and sell our gas through other places at a higher cost to us, rather that having ANY kind of dependence on the Turks. At the same time this project makes the TCs even more dependent on Turkey. It means that the TCs will not seek any alternative solutions for water (e.g. desalination) and as their water needs increase it would mean that their lives will literally depend on Turkey, since if they dare to disobey Turkey on anything the Turks can simply cut the water and let them die from thirst. This renders the TCs even more irrelevant since they are under the control of Turkey 100%.

Ever since the 2007 drought the RoC has built two more desalination plants bringing the total to six so water is no longer a problem and therefore (like Sotos mentions) not an incentive in the CyProb.

...sadly MR-from-NG, if that is the water from a pipeline all they way from Turkey, as of yet it has no way to get to the homes that need it, what is the infrastructure to get it there, does not yet exist. I don't know what you can call a job well done about it. Although I do hope it is a success, and that all Cypriots will benefit from the huge potential it represents in providing water even further afield.

That water, the water from Turkey, can pay for a lot of reparations. Giving that water to Cypriots, not to a private enterprise, or to one constituency over the other, recognising that whether they are Turkish or Greek, they are Cypriot, and as Cypriots, wronged, can go a long way to repair an image badly tarnished internationally, it will go a long way to demonstrate that Turkey is a great nation, having humility with such grace.
