Absolutely. And NATO does not want things to escalate.

But as the new Global Superpower Leader, he can be bold and solve a number of long-term Turk-created problems in our region of the world.

Above are a few possibilities which immediately spring to mind.

He could of course choose to deploy all/any of those and make a lot of people happy, right? :D

Here is the cold harsh reality!

Pootin doesn't have a strategy. The West has a long term strategy and all Pootin has is a publicity stunt!

And here's exactly what Erdogan, is up to:

Erdogan said he may speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin at a climate summit in Paris next week, a discussion that would be welcomed by the United States and EU, both of which fear the spat has distracted from the battle against Islamic State militants in Syria.

Erdogan is protecting IS from the Russian fire that was seriously harming his terrorist friends.

It cannot distract because Putin is not the one in Syria conducting the air strikes but his commander. ErdoDaft is doing and saying all the right things that will lead to my desired result.

I’m just waiting for the special sign that will signal Turkey’s death… Russia officially withdrawing her citizens and Embassy staff from Turkey.

Well Russia has just suspended all economic ties with Turkey (except selling them gas). Russians are restricted from travelling to Turkey and Turks are banned from going to Russia.

This move threatens billions of $$ worth of trade and this will also weaken the lira much more verses the currencies belonging to Turkey's other major trading partners. Notably, the US Dollar and the Euro. I don't call that good fortune.

Downing that Russian plane was a very costly move by the Turks.
