Look it goes like this. For a given amount of money, Cyprus can get twice more bang for buck by buying Russian.

But by buying Russian, it can't buy the absolute pinnacle or get the cutting edge.

Some countries prefer American stuff but they also have the budgets for it - UK, Australia, NATO, Canada etc.

In my opinion, American gear is nearly always better than Russian with only some few exceptions but it cost twice as more without it being twice better. So it's a pros and cons thing.

Singapore has 60 F-16's in service.
The entire country of Singapore fits twice into Paphos district...

So if size is your argument...
Nevermind the funding, that'll come in time.

F-16s are ok but if you buy now, the F-18F is far superior. That is what I would look at since Turkey is getting the JSF.

The Super Hornet is fantastic, with the latest in weapons systems, has 2 engines and better survivability.

Cyprus should put an order in and see if Congress pass it.

They've been given an opportunity for future state of the art purchases.
