The indirect message to Erdogan from Putin is; "lets see if you have the balls to come anywhere near my jets again or even cross the Syria-Turkey border with your jets and see what awaits for you, and further more, once you lose few jets and then you want to close the straits because you feel threatened, I want to see if you have anymore balls left to stop my Navy ships passing through it. Go ahead punk, make my day"!

Are the Russians going anywhere near the Turkish border? I think not!

The fact remains that the person the Western powers put in charge in post-Saddam Iraq, Malaki, has turned the country into a puppet of Iran and alienated the Sunnis with his blatantly partisan policies. Couple this with the policy of denying jobs to any former members of the Baath party, and you had a lot of highly disgruntled unemployed people, mainly with backgrounds in the military and bureaucracy. There could not have been a better recipe for disaster. The ex-Baathists are believed to be the real driving force behind Daesh which found it easy (at least initially) to rally the Sunni population behind it. I posted a link elsewhere recently to a detailed Amnesty International report which concludes that the bulk of Daesh's arms originate from the Iraqi armed forces. Couple this with the way that the Iraqi army rapidly retreated in most parts of Sunni Iraq when confronted by much smaller and less organised Daesh forces, and one cannot help wondering if some kind of behind the scenes deal was brokered. After all, the ex-Baathist military people must still have good contacts in the Iraqi armed forces. It is all speculation, but it is certain that Daesh would not exist in its current form were it not for the Bush-Blair fiasco in Iraq. Iraq was where Daesh first came into existence, not Syria.

It is business as usual for the Russians in their mission on the Syrian-Turkish border. They don't need to be in Turkish airspace for 17 seconds to accomplish their mission, unlike Turkish jets do not dare to cross into Syrian airspace any longer. Turkey got what it didn't want, a no fly zone in Syria, but ONLY for it's jets. This is so comical, no?

If one was to accept the polls thus far, Trump leads by a comfortable margin for the Republican nomination.

In spite of his recent extreme views on Muslims being banned, temporarily, from entering the USA his popularity has not wavered amongst his supporters.

Let me state from the outset that I find his views despicable, undemocratic and absolute nonsense. The very vast majority of Muslims are no different from and other religious groups, yes there is an ideology that has been hijacked by some, ie the jihadists and other Islamic fanatic groups, yes they too, the jihadists praise their fictitious god, just as the Ku Klux Klan did as well as the Nazis. The vast majority of American Christians did not support KKK or indeed support the Nazis.

I was wrong about Obama becoming president so I will make no prediction as to Trump becoming one.

Hilary Clinton will surely win the Democratic nomination and face Trump at the elections.
