Dear All,

Just moved to Cyprus 4 months ago and I am currently looking for a dog sitter.

I have a 1 year old pug and I would like somebody to take care of her while I am away for business or holiday.

When I used to live in Switzerland, I used to have a lovely lady who takes care of my dog in her house, basically she is a housewife and she takes maximum 2 dogs only.

I am wondering if there are similar things in Limassol area where I can send my dog while I am away? I would prefer to send my dog somewhere to live with someone than having someone living in my house. I have visited some kennels in Cyprus, they are nice but I just would like to have my dog in a family than a huge dog hotel

One idea might be to contact the Sirius Dog Sanctuary, a dog shelter run by volunteers in Limassol. They are very likely to know people who give this kind of service.

I used a lovely British couple living just outside Paphos (which may not help you in Limassol) a few years back. They looked after my dog in their own home for a week whilst we went away. They sent me texts and photos to let me know how she was getting on - walks on the beach etc. It worked really well and when I was looking for someone to dog-sit, there were a few others advertising also. This was in the Polis-Latchi magazine. So they exist.

So, if you find a similar community magazine for Limassol, there may well be a dog-less couple who cannot commit to keeping a dog full-time but would love to look after yours some of the time.
