It was October 25th 1961 when I begun my journey, green eyed, and like ....Paphitis, wet behind the ears. What I hated most about my self was ...acne, teenage syndrome, hated the bloody spots especially more so when I wanted to present my self as an 18 year old. Met this Cypriot family on the ship, father, mother and daughter returning from Cyprus after a holiday, some family wedding I remember. They had been in the UK since very early 40s, the daughter about my then age of 15 or so, a lovely girl full of teenage laughter, but always teasing me by talking to me in English, I could understand but a few words, you see during the EOKA period English lessons were not encouraged rather frowned upon , disloyal to the struggle.gLII did once organise the burning of English lesson books at school.

I was fascinated with this "English" Cypriot girl, her giggles and self confidence fascinated me, we did share a ...cuddle or two away from her parents prying watchful eyes, so while the older boys were leering the Israeli dancers I was enjoying the company of this English Cypriot girl and ...dreaming of things to come in London. After all I was told by the taxi driver who took me and my family to Limassol port that I ought to be careful when in London as the girls are .....

Once again, I cannot vote.
Your stories albeit interesting, are personal, and NOT inline with the purposes of this DISCUSSION forum.
What is there for us to discuss on the first place? What is there to exchange views? Nothing...
It looks to me your stories are more suitable for facebook entries rather than entries on this forum.
However feel free to do as you please. Virtual ink and virtual paper costs nothing

As I said from the start this is a light hearted thread, meant to break , temporarily at least, the monotonous ARGUMENTS NOT DISCUSSIONS, entered into by some forumers at length . It is not meant to be discussed neither is it meant to be argumentative in any way. I have posted many stories over the last 10 years or so, always on the pre condition that if no interest is evident I would seize.

All who have known me for many years also know that Im an open book, always have been and I think is too late now to make changes.

I do sparingly use Facebook and on a couple of occasions I did post a short story, many family members are on it too so on special commemorative occasions I make an entrance, very rarely I must say.

I do understand that we are not all the same, each one of us has its own character its own way of posting whether on the political front, world events or personal events, such as my self.

The Cypriots of those days were somewhat different from todays Cypriots. We lacked confidence in many ways, we were concerned that other people might judge us badly if we said something or did something that we perceived as being not acceptable to those around us. A lesson we learned in the UK by other Cypriots was that we do not speak our language loudly as the English people might be offended. How different is this now.!!

Arriving in Marseilles was an eye opener, a large city, traffic , people and oh those gorgeous French women !!

We were gathered together at the concourse of a train station to catch a train to Paris then another train to Calais. The older boys decided, since we had a few hours to kill, to take a stroll in ....downtown Marseilles, where litterally door after door in a narrow street french hookers were begging the boys to go in!! I think one or two took the bait whilst I waited on the street.

Paris was amazing, eyes wide open staring at the people going by, the buildings the scenery, all to much for a young Stroumbioti to take in, but I was indeed overawed and felt good within, here was I in the centre of Paris wispering to my self O PSIXI MOU STO PARISI. Never a truer cliche !

The Cypriot couple and their young daughter took a liking to me after confessing my real age and asked me to stick around them on the train sitting together, asked about my family and other relative questions etc. Somehow their interaction with me gave me an uplift and from then on I remained in their company...

Cut out the bullshit and give us the TRUE story of about how you were "Run Out" of Cyprus for grassing up your own countrymen who were struggling against British oppression.

Tell us about how you adopted the British way of life [in preference to the Cypriot way] and are NOW seeking to ingratiate yourself to the younger generation of Cypriots [who have no sound knowledge of what went on in Cyprus 50 years or so in the past] in order that you might be able to SNEAK back into the country [ much more slowly than when you were RUN OUT  ] testing the water before you try to adopt the mantle of a "True Cypriot" [MY ARSE !] knowing full well that there may still be those who's memories stretch back to the heady days of your "Schooling" [or was it coming under the influence of your British friends ?].

You are KNOWN old man, and there are those who know you very well, despite your protestations to the contrary, you are a "TRUE BRIT" without the qualities of some of your American "Cowboy" friends who exhibited "TRUE GRIT" , they even made a film about it and the starring roll was portrayed by "John Wayne"...., Oh for some of HIS characteristics to have rubbed off on you. My Arse once more with feeling.

As I suspected, the Pervert has appeared.

Not in the habit of dissociating my self from something that Im not associated with, for the benefit of the readers and to redicule the pervert here are some facts.

In 1955 at the start of EOKA struggle I was 9 years old, at the end in 1958 I was 12 !!

In 1961, 3 years after the end of the struggle, I was 15 !!!
This pervert is heavily intoxicated with my self, he derives an immence pleasure, sexual I may add, by trolling me persistently. Since this thread is of a light hearted nature I shall constrain my self and politely ask the pervert to PO.

Tell us the story of how you were involved in the EOKA Youth branch and then managed to convince a British Army Officer that you were right for his daughter.

What did you do to achieve this amazing turn around?

Another Plonker !!!

My involvement with ANE, the youth movement of EOKA, started at 11 years old in 1957, taking the oath on reaching my 12th birthday at the start of 1958.

My older brother was a full EOKA member. Had the struggle continued I would have joined EOKA active unit.

I have never regretted being part, a tiny one at that, of a struggle against occupation.
Would you kindly leave my family out of this Plonker.

Tell us about the whimpering little schoolboy [THAT's who I refer to] who embraced the friendship of the Brits and became their lapdog for the years preceding his hurried departure [before it got too hot for him] and how he spent his entire life [up until the age when it no longer mattered] avoiding his duty [as a supposed Cypriot] to serve Cyprus in the Military.

Tell us about THIS chap, we KNOW what you have become NOW, we would like to know how it all came about.

Tell us the TRUE story.........THEN you will get my vote......, meanwhile, as stated, MY ARSE !

I asked you what it is you did to achieve acceptance from an imperialist. Tell us the process of your metamorphosis.

Bloody hell, I wish the bloke was still alive so that he can cut your balls off.
