An announcement by the ....

......International Olympic Committee (IOC) that the flame for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro will pass through a refugee camp in Athens and one refugee will be among the torch bearers.

The torch will be lit in Greece's ancient Olympia on April 21 before leaving for the South American country 12 days later.

"The Olympic flame will pass through this camp here and will be shown to the refugees," IOC head Thomas Bach said during a visit to the Eleonas camp for refugees and migrants in Athens, which houses mostly Afghans and Iranians.

"One of the refugees will be invited to carry the torch."

The IOC has already said top athletes who are refugees with no home country to represent will be allowed to compete at the Rio Games under the Olympic flag.

Anyway, did you know the first modern Olympian from Cyprus (Anastasios Andreou) competed in 1896 under the Greek flag whilst Cyprus was a British colony?

Once again the RoC will carry the officially recognised Cyprus flag, unlike the illegal occupied areas can only look on.

Those countries don't have many athletes that can compete at that level. In the whole history of the Olympics Syria won 3 medals. And even if there are such top athletes who are now refugees I am sure their host countries would rush to give to them their citizenship!

Anybody who can swim from Syria to Cyprus should receive a Cyprus citizenship and compete at the swimming marathon at the Olympics!

Mouchos in the Olympics might be more interesting than ..Golf and most certainly ..mucho more interesting that Cricket which might be a part of the games in 2020. The games will then be extended by THREE months :lol:
