Troodos-Pouziaris Trail

Postby rudy1972 » Mon Mar 14, 2016 12:36 pm

Hi,
here a beautiful walk trail in the Troodos...more or less 15km. I forgot my GPS but at 1km, it's the right distance.
Start from Platres to Troodos square passing by Pouziaris...once to Troodos square, to go down to Platres via the Kaledonia trail. Really nice.
Possible to do with a mountain bike but can be sometimes very technical!!

There's a fantastic walk down an old earth track (and it is not easy to locate the start of it) that heads down from Troodos to Kakopetria and passes by the entrances to abandoned mines. I have only ever managed to get down about half way and back.

I have done that one as well, actually. Something of a doddle, I would have to say, and sorry if that sounds condescending, but less than ten miles is not much of a country walk for me. The Caledonian Falls are a great sight, and if you do this walk in the height of the summer you really understand why that stream is called the Kryos Potamos ('cold river') as you bask in the coolness that emanates from it.

Hi Tim,
if a day you want to do the trail from Kakopetria (the whole trail), I'm ready to go. I can walk 30-35km. Do you know where it would be possible to buy maps with all the trails in the Troodos?

The Cyprus Tourism Organisation has an excellent small-scale contour map of the Troodos area showing all footpaths and it is FREE!

I meant 'low-scale'.
