Paphitis:

This map has far more credibility than yours and shows a completely different distribution of who controls what! What you presented as ‘evidence’ is complete rubbish! Did it by any chance come through The Syrian Observatory of Human Rights?

A dynamic map by Chatham House, you can even research the ‘research’. This is what I refer as a reliable, unbiased and informed source.

Chatham House:

Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs, is an independent policy institute based in London. Our mission is to help build a sustainably secure, prosperous and just world.

That map, just corroborates and confirms the maps I posted earlier. In fact, your map seems to credit ISIL with slightly more territory than my maps.

I accept that your map is more credible.

In fact, the videos if you click on them in this link show clearly that ISIL have increased and made big gains despite Russia's involvement. And that raises very interesting questions about Russia's so called attacks on "terrorists" which obviously did not include Islamic State or Al Nusra.

Paphitis:
I agree with your post but the concentration of ISIS forces seems to be more concentrated in the East of Syria and all over Iraq. You said the grey area was the ISIS held areas and that was clearly not the case as the grey covered the whole of the western side of Syria from Israel to Turkey.

There is no doubting that Assad/SAA have pushed back many of the 'moderate' rebels; they have relieved over 400 towns/villages from rebel control: many FSA have taken up Assad's offer of an amnesty; some have joined the rebels and then ISIS but it would appear that FSA leading a rebel army against Assad is no longer true, Russia never claimed it was just going to attack ISIS, read Lavrov's description of a terrorist ..... any terrorist!

Russia is still in their bases and is still active in attacking ISIS ..... and no doubt Al-Nusra and other 'non-moderate' rebels.

You never did explain how 'you' tell the difference? :?:
