OK, so the West demanded the removal of Assad, what have they accomplished thus far.
SFA. Destruction of unimaginable levels, thousands killed, millions becoming refugees and Europe bearing the brunt of this massive exodus.

We will accomplish it all in time.

Assad will always have a war on his hands for as long as he remains. And we will always support his opposition unless he agrees to transition.

The coalition has had the time, the opportunity and the weapons to achieve something in the years they have been conducting their war against Assad ..... and have achieved nothing, except to eventually to get the Russians involved. Nothing will change ..... Putin will not allow the US/Coalition to unseat Assad and impose a US puppet on the Syrian people.

As Putin says ...... the choivce of government and leader, is up to the Syrian people not a foreign power, whoever that power happens to be. Recently the Syrian people that were able to, made their choice and 80%+ voted Assad into another term of office. It is also against International Law and the UN Charter for a foreign power to supply arms to irregulars fighting a civil war or to interfere in the domestic politics of another country.

Just as an aside, what people need to ask themselves now, is whether they prefer Russia's intervention or the coalition's intervention.

It's too late for the poor people of Syria now, as the war will not just die even with the fall of Aleppo.

But the tactics between the coalition, and the Regime/Hezbollah/Russia are very distinct.

The coalition was in it for the long haul, in a very measure response that would not target civilians, hospitals or schools. The regime, is targetting civilians, bombing hospitals, schools, houses, markets and pretty much anything that moves. Also, they are preventing aid from getting through. Civilians are being killed everyday now.

If anyone thinks this war is going to end anytime soon, they are sadly mistaken. And yet Aleppo still stands, which is testament to the resistance and their resolve.
