The EU has to pull the plug on Turkeys accession once and for all and start applying greater pressure on them to end the occupation of Cyprus.

They are a terrible candidate. Their non compliance with the accession criteria is non existant as well as this going on for too long.

It reminds me of those guests that you've been waiting hours for them to leave and they finally pick up their coats but instead of going, they start yet more discussions and keep everyone waiting by the door whilst they ahm and arr and refuse to actually step out and go home!

Scottish Parliament could block Brexit.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/pa/art ... rgeon.html

Early hours now and Sterling already down by 1.4 cents on the Euro to 1.216. Down against the dollar at 1.34.

How many times will the BoE have to intervene to prop the pound up ?

The affects of the Brexit vote will be felt today and for days to come. The UK , US and European markets will react accordingly once opened. How much will sterling go down by today one does not dare predict. The one sure outcome is that Stg will continue to fall. well as I said before .....we now have control of our borders, we have ....taken our country back and our NHS will benefit by 350 million

In the meantime the question everyone is asking is who will trigger Article 50 that will ignite the fuse and commence divorce proceedings .

Not sure if the British Parliament is required to pass a motion in the House. Many ambiguous questions remain.
The protagonist in the Brexit camp , The Clown, seems not in a much hurry for Britain to invoke article 50. I wonder if he has already regretted the referendum result.

The 'leave' vote was primarily about preventing 80 Million Turks (99% of whom are Muslims) from having a right of entry into the UK. There is no problem with most people about Europeans entering UK - their concerns were about a non-EU country like Turkey having freedom of movement.

If so, that was another lie. There is no prospect of Turkish citizens having free movement in the EU at any time in the near future.

There is to be a meeting on the 30 June between Turkey and the EU to open the chapter on finance and duscuss the accelerated accession and gisa free travel for Turks. This was with held by the stay camp during the referendum. Both Cameron and the EU soght to deceive the British public. The was revealed in a televised interview with Ian Duncan Smith.
In my opinion the uk made the right choice and time will tell.

Apologies its a FB link

All the stupid lies that the stupid rednecks believe! Turkey's EU accession process is going absolutely nowhere. There is no prospect whatsoever of Turkish citizens enjoying the right of free movement within the EU in next few years, if ever. There was the possibility that Turkish tourists and businessmen would be able to travel visa free in the Schengen zone. Just to go on holiday or attend business meetings, not to live and work there. The UK is not in the Schengen zone so this would have had no impact on the UK, which would have continued to apply visas to Turkish passport holders. Give me a break!

Except they will soon stop at Hadrians Wall!

I wish some journalist had asked some of the redneck idiots who were in the streets celebrating with Union Jacks if they actually understood what the union flag symbolised. I bet most of them don't even know that - although there is a chance that some do. As to understanding the bitter irony that they are responsible for the breakup of that very union - no, that will be beyond them.

Michael Heseltine has said that Boris Johnson, Michael Gove and Nigel Farage must conduct the exit negotiations with the EU.

http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/brexit-michael ... eu-1567528

Brilliant. Can you see these idiots sitting down and conducting high-level treaty negotiations? Make them try and expose them for what they are. Except ... the stupid rednecks who voted to destroy their own country will only see them for the buffoons they are if that’s what the toxic right-wing tabloids tell them to think, so no joy there.

That really is the million dollar question, isn't it? Even though the EU has immediately made it clear that they want shot of us straight away - funny that, the right wing tabloids have been telling the masses for years that it is thanks the to the UK bailing it out with British taxpayers money that could otherwise go on the national health service that the EU keeps going, so it's strange that they're so keen to show the supposed sugar daddy the door - exit cannot happen until somebody in the UK, who as I understand it has to be the prime-minister, triggers this article. And triggering it will be suicide. I mean, it's the end of the city if we leave the UK, the only thing left that is propping up our post-industrial economy. If the city goes, it's over. Those racist rednecks who want shot of the Bulgarian and Romanian wogs will suddenly find themselves even poorer than the Bulgarians and Romanians who were so desperate as to want to come to the UK and do the dirtiest jobs under exploitative conditions, and unlike those Bulgarians and Romanians they won't even have the benefit of free movement in the EU to be able to do what so many unemployed British construction workers did in the 1980's and go and work on the continent (remember Auf Wiedersehen Pet?). The British Cypriot of half Greek-Cypriot and half Turkish-Cypriot origin, Alper Ali Riza put it succinctly in his column in yesterday's Sunday Mail (the Cyprus version): "... even though London, which voted to remain will thereby lose its status as the financial center of Europe to Frankfurt - all because of the vote of people who are net recipients of the state aid paid for by successful Londoners." I witnessed with horror the destruction of Britain's industrial base under Thatcher and loathe the way that it has left swathes of the country destitute. The fact remains that it is now the success of London that is keeping the whole ship afloat, and that success is underpinned by the city. I am no great fan of the financial sector, but we have nothing else left. Pull that plug and England (perhaps still with Wales) will end up a basket case. OK, so the far right managed to fuel the flames of racism among the disaffected rednecks and engineered this suicidal vote, for whatever ulterior motive. Even so, is anybody with two brain cells to rub together really going to pull the plug and destroy the country? Perhaps we will pull back from the precipice.

A public opinion poll just conducted in Turkey (following the suicidal Brexit vote) shows that 71% of respondents said 'yes' to the statement 'Turkey should be an EU member'.

http://www.cumhuriyet.com.tr/haber/siya ... nketi.html

Isn't it worth wondering why EU membership looks so attractive from outside. Well, of course, I know what the answer of the retarded, uneducated, racist redneck is: 'It's because they all want to come to the UK and scrounge on benefits'. What can I do? I don't have the resources to produce a tabloid with many large banner headlines and short text containing few polysyllabic words and a photograph of a young lady bearing her breasts on page three, so how can I get through to that demographic. The person who can controls election results. What a world.

By the way, anybody who follows events in Turkey will know that Turkey is desperately trying to make sure that its present customs union extends to the new transatlantic mega trade deal that is being negotiated with North America. It knows that not being part of it will cost Turkey dearly. That's the deal that we are currently part of and are walking away from.
