NEED ADVICE! Border crossing

Postby Jazzo123 » Sat Jun 18, 2016 5:28 am

Hi all!
I am flying into Larnarca airport and want to know the best way to get to the Ledra border crossing?, to cross to the north side.
I don't want to pay for a taxi, but wondering if anyone knows specific bus routes that will go from Larnarca airport straight to the crossing?

Also, i am an australian citizen. firstly will they want to check through all my bags at the crossing?
and secondly, will i need to get a visa before crossing into the north, seeing as i am australian?

any help would be much appreciated!
mwah :*

There's a bus from the airport to somewhere in Nicosia but I doubt it'll take you to the roadblock. You can always leave an online enquiry.

the inter city bus stop is not that far from ledra crossing. although i would not walk it from there with bags a taxi from intercity bus stop to the crossing cant be more than 5 euros.
you will not need to get a visa, tc police will just note your name down and thats it and the bags do not get checked. gc police normally do not even look at the passports if you are going north. when you are returning they will both check your passport.

No need for a visa toenter a criminal state, after all it is home to all the british fugitives and turkish mafia.

You'll be lucky to get out of there alive!

I see two issues here. One of them is that it is about 600 metres from Solomos Square bus terminus in Nicosia to the Ledra Street crossing point. This can comfortably be walked in ten minutes without luggage, but the question is how much luggage you will be carrying and you also need to realise that there are no public transport facilities immediately on the other side, either.
The other issue is that, as Lordo says, the inter-city buses from Larnaca take you to the Solomos Square terminus, but these buses leave from the centre of Larnaca, not the airport, and the airport shuttle buses to Nicosia take you to a terminus at Kyrenias Avenue on the fringes of the city centre, although there are regular city buses along the main road nearby that take you to Solomos Square.
So, if you want to do the journey entirely by public transport, you will either have to take a local bus from Larnaka airport to the town centre, and then take the intercity bus to Nicosia - Solomos Square, or take the airport shuttle to the Nicosia terminus and then get a Nicosia city bus to Solomos Square. Either way, you will need two buses, and then you will have a bit of a walk to the crossing point which may be difficult if you have a lot of luggage.

For your information:

Times of intercity buses between Larnaka and Nicosia:

Times of the local bus in Larnaka that takes you from the airport to Foinikoudes, where the intercity buses start from:

(Somebody has posted the times of the Larnaka Airport - Nicosia shuttle)

Yeah, you can travel to an illegal airport with massive air safety issues, that's why it's illegal. As i said you,d be lucky to get out alive.

Is that why you always land at Larnaca airport? Hypocrite.
