Even though it is the Daily Mail I think this guy has the attitude everyone in the UK should emulate, He makes sense ..... the only problem the UK has now is that the country does not have a leader that can take the reins and make it work. This is not a job for a politician it is a job for a real leader. It is a pity we don’t have a ‘Putin’ of our own!

GERARD LYONS: Now Britain's going global - and the economy will do just fine

Don’t panic. The economy will do just fine. In fact, with solid political leadership and sound policy making, it is more likely that growth will surprise on the upside than disappoint on the downside in the coming years.

Now that the country has voted to leave the EU, what lies ahead?

The UK needs a clear vision. We need to reaffirm that we are becoming Global Britain, not Little Britain – a good place to do business in and to do business from across the globe.

"A good place to do business in and to do business from across the globe." Brilliant thinking from the right-wing tabloids - leave the world's largest trade bloc that is on the verge of concluding a mega transatlantic trade deal with North America and has the clout as a large bloc to secure preferential trade deals around the world and then ... think about doing business across the globe, not just in little England (What Britain are they talking about? - Scottish independence is now certain).

Lord Heseltine, the former Conservative deputy prime minister, has in the past few minutes said on BBC radio that he supports a second referendum. I signed the petition myself, but I am lukewarm about the idea. You really have to recognise the result, which shows a narrow majority voting in favour of leave. Basically, it was just a consultative measure which is not binding on the government and you have to ask if such a drastic step can be taken with such a narrow majority in favour. The fact that the leave campaign has in the space of a few days reneged on just about every claim they made in the course of the referendum and now all of the leading lights of that campaign have gone to ground and are giving no idea how we are going to get out of the mess they made has to be taken into consideration in interpreting these results, I think.

I'm seriously contemplating that very move just now from Cyprus. The snag is that Spain will not approve accession by an independent Scotland (and the approval of all existing member states is needed) because it fears this will set a precedent for Catalonia to do the same.

Why the white middle classes? As far as I know, people from ethnic minorities voted strongly in favour of remain, not least in reaction to the vile racism used by the leave camp in its campaign.

if you ´´live´ in england now then ´moving´ to scotland is just paperwork .
im looking at what SCOTTISH NHS or SOCIAL NON-MEANS TESTED BENEFIT that i could get (eye test etc)
i think that payment of poll tax ,would b A good paper to have . Also get a new PASSPORT issued in
