Erol,
For me to download 45 MB with my donkey speed dial up will take years.
Can you upload in a more compressed format, after all it seems we all can use real player now. |
There is no pleasing some people
Don't you have DSL Broadband in the RoC?
OK I will encode these in real format and try to get the file size down - however past a certain point the images are of such low quality that it would probably make more sense to just encode the audio stream and listen to it rather than watch and listen. |

Erolz, I tried to watch the windows media files but the sound was not very good and I could not follow what he was saying. (I am not very good with the British accent). I just got the first of the real media files and the sound is much better so I hope I will be able to watch them now.

We do The 256Kbits down/64kbits up you can have it with less than 20 pounds per month. 1Mbit down, 128Kbit up is around 30. These in comparison with about 6 pounds per month + 20 cents per hour for dial-up.
What are you using there? Satellite? |

Yes I use a two way Satellite system (hughes / direcway system), which gives me 512kbps down and 128kbps up. You do not want to know what I have to pay monthly for such a service (or what I paid for the sat dish / lmb and reciever box)! |

I know satellite and especially the two way one is very expensive. I was thinking to get one when I moved back to Cyprus. I couldn't afford it so I got ISDN (128up-down) for some months until they brought ADSL to my somewhat remote area.
Now EAC (the electricity authority) started to install fiber cables and in some months they will offer cable TV along with 1.5Mbit connection. That will be cheaper from ADSL, but maybe it will take many months or even some years to reach my area. |

OK I watched the film, thanks once again to Erol for his work, and apologies for the trouble I caused him to upload once in wmx format and once in ram format. Erol the ram format video and sound were satisfactory for me didn't really have any problem.I am also amazed of the compression the real player does. I mean I once tried to edit something from my DV camera, man I couldnt beleive that for every 5 minutes I needed one Gigabite (!!!) of space...
Well, frankly speaking there was nothing in the movie I did not know of. Perhaps for younger people in here was not so, but anyway...Despite that however I still found it informative and touching. One picture means 1000 words, isn't that what they say?
I was really emotionally disturbed by 3 things. First when the fascist GC Eoka b animal described the TCs of Tohni as animals. Second by the noble action of the TC policeman who saved 240 GCs from excecution in revenge. And third from the oppression of the enclaved GCs in Rizokarpaso as described by Yianoula (?).
Regarding the massacre at Tohni of 80(?) TC, I would like to inform the TC members of this forum that the one who did it is known and is still alive! Sener Levent revealed his name in one of his articles it's someone called Andronikos or Andonikou his house is just on the entrance of the village and outside he parks several construction machinery that he owns.Whenever he sees TCs visiting the village he gets in the house and hides himself. My question isn't there any TC lawyer who can do something? I will be more than happy to see justice at least for once in this miserable place. Well?

Awesome stuff Erolz, particularly appreciated the wmv format as I hate using Real with its frenzied pop-ups. If you have any more, please post them and I'll look out for them. Until now my only video on Cyprus was a rather skewed documentary called "The Rape of Cyprus", which while containing some useful interviews was not the most balanced interpretation.
Many thanks again. |

| I am currently in the UK but will try and locate and put up any more cyprus related programms when I get back. If anyone has any such programms on tape I would be most keen to borrow them (and copy them) and make those available as well. PM if you have any. |
