Cyprus to protest against Turkish frigate incident

A Turkish frigate forced a research vessel with a Cyprus flag, which was conducting studies on dolphins, to move away from the seawaters west of Akamas.

The research was being conducted on behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Cyprus.

In the communications between the officers of the Turkish frigate and the captain of the research vessel, it appears that the Turkish officers requested that the vessel move away immediately, saying that it was in Turkish waters.

The research vessel was approximately 12 nautical miles from the Akamas peninsula. After the warning, the research vessel moved away.

It confirms that Turkey continues the attempts to put Cyprus’ sovereignty in doubt

...also coinciding with their own energy agreements with the political regime they installed in Cyprus' occupied north, and also along with Cyprus' own Energy Agreements, with Egypt, Israel, and Greece.
