Absolutely correct but no doubt the "patriots" will disagree. Had Makarios accepted the offer of Home Rule he would, in time, have won genuine democracy and full independence for Cyprus. However, he had seen other colonies and nearby Israel fight for their freedom and believed it was the only way, unfortunately for him he ignored Turkish ambitions and the leverage it had because of its importance to NATO.

where did magarios ever say he wanted independence. he used the words self determination so chobans like you will accept it continue with your sleep. asholes.
And you have achieved what you accuse the Greek Cypriots of wanting, you have been re-colonised by Turkey, congratulations. The big bad wolf will swallow you up and Turkish Cypriots will be no more, no doubt many will want to move south to maintain their Cypriotness, do you expect a warm welcome?
