Reminds me of one-armed-bandits or a juke box. :)

Now that is very funny!

God damn… I don’t know why I’m so attracted to retro looks and always end up creating them without even aiming to! :?

Old habits die hard I suppose… :?

Maybe removing the shine may help...

I like retro looks too - but they don't instill trust when on computers. :)

Good point Oracle... I'll remove the shine, use flat colors and maybe replace gradients with patterns or something.

But I definitely don't want anything that looks like current popular browsers... they're an eye sore for me.

Sotos wrote:The address and tab bars look like they were designed by a child ;) The menus inside the internal pages have an outdated look. Use some proper icon set for all icons you are using, including the close (x) and maximize/minimize buttons (since I guess the way you made it doesn't let you use the ones of the OS). Loose the gradients. Simplify the tabs and make them look like tabs, not buttons. Realize that you have no design skills whatsoever so look at the styling of other browsers, find the one you like best (choose one with a simple design) and style your own based on that. Here is a free icon set as an example: https://materialdesignicons.com/

No, I don't want a Chrome look-alike. The only good thing about Chrome is the Chromium rendering. Everything else had to go including tab management, tab history, password management, disk caching, and more. I basically created everything from scratch, bar the page rendering.

As for the address bar icons… they’re actually gorgeous polygons that resize perfectly with browser resizing. Their appearance can vary depending on coloring... what you see here is shine in the center but I can move that shine to any corner or get rid of it altogether making them unrecognizable.

I can accept that the browser looks horrible to you but I don’t think the solution lies in copying what other browsers have done or are doing. I've never been a follower Sotos... :)

Basically, I'm looking for something new, fun, and sleek... a reinvention of the browser interface if you will. I think today's browsers look too technical and complicated but they needn't be this way.

My aim is to create something new, unique and authentic, not plagiarize what others are doing. Those shitty icons Sotos suggested are being used by everyone and they bore me shitless.

Why would I want to use this browser?

Why do I need to use this browser?

That comes later when I post a link and people can take it for a spin... in this thread I'm concentrating on appearance.

GFY

I’ve made pretty much everything configurable but we’re concentrating on appearance right now.

Imho, what the world needs is a non-technical browser for the masses.

I’ve tossed out all the developer’s tools and all the stupid things that don’t serve the masses.

ie: What the hell does “Error 404” or 400 mean?

What kind of a stupid error massage is that presented to people sometimes?

You call that a browser? Well I call it developer’s BULLSHIT!

It’s all BULLSHIT I tell you!

What the people want is a browser that speaks in ENGLISH not stupid numbers… one that can communicate with *them* not a robot!

And what the hell does “Oops I’ve crushed again!” mean???

You what? What kind of ridiculous shit is that? :?

Why bother me about your problems? You created it you FIX IT arsehole!

And what about…

“You must enter into a privacy agreement to use our services…”

You whaaaat? I don’t do deals with virtual reality, loser. Now get outta my face!

See what I mean people? Don’t they fucking annoy you? :?

Well they certainly annoyed me on a daily basis, and that’s why this browser was born.

Soon you’ll be able to take it for a spin and you’ll see exactly what I’m talking about… that warm fuzzy feeling of being safe and in control. :)

GR what we are judging now is merely the looks of the browser which is the easiest thing to get right. If you can't even get the design right then you stand no chance in convincing anybody that your browser is better, faster, more secure etc than those created by tech giants like Google, Microsoft, Apple etc. Do you know how many top engineers those companies have? They wouldn't hire you even as an intern! You can never create a browser that is better than those but if you could make a decent design then maybe you would be able to fool a few people ;)

You sure come across like you’re in a LOT pain Sotos…

I do feel for you… you wouldn’t stand a chance writing a shitty one-tab browser let alone a good one!

OK, if this thread is about appearance then you should go with a professional and modern user centric design. Not what you want. Those free icons are in my opinion much better than the icons in the current design. It looks like windows v2.3 on LSD.

So what is new, unique and authentic about your browser? This should come first, austhetics should come last. If no one is going to use it, then it does not matter what it looks like.
