Cyprus would be testing their Air Defence and the Israelis will probably test their countermeasures against BUK etc. They do the same with Greek S300s in Crete.

As usual ..... the Cypriots were late! The defences were still on their way to their launch site when the Israeli's were back home having a cup of tea!

Oh you were sitting there with your watch were you?

CNG don't have any aircraft to engage sophisticated equipment like the F-15/F-16 Block 52s

They have BUK, and the Israelis have HARM which is what they will probably be testing.

The Israelis want to learn the capability of the BUK and S300. They also like to practice long rang Air Strikes all the way to Greece and return to Israel because it is similar distance to Iran.

Oh coalition doesn't do partnerships with war criminals or side with one sectarian side over the other. They will never do that and make a billion Sunnis our enemy.

Coalition has a foot in both camps, just not Assad's camp. Russia however has picked a side and entered into a quagmire it will find difficult to extract itself from in a war it can't ever win.

Our Tor system is much more sophisticated than BUKs. I doubt it's the BUKs they're using.

Either way, the Israelis are probably flying up and down testing how to evade the radar, or how to use the terrain to fly undetected in the radar's shadows. Also how they can interrogate the radar itself to destroy the Air Defence. CNG will obviously try to engage the Israeli Aircraft and at the same time operate their systems in a manner which doesn't give the Israelis enough time to destroy them which I presume means turning them off and moving around because once HARM detects the radiation a missile is already inbound.

I don’t normally wear a watch! I was having a nice cold KEO, a Lountza sandwich and a packet of crisps on the front terrace, which overlooks Akrotiri, Limassol Port and the old town and listening to BFBS Radio .......... and the radio has a clock on it.

CNG don't have any aircraft to engage sophisticated equipment like the F-15/F-16 Block 52s

The CNG have no fixed wing aircraft .......... period!

They have BUK, and the Israelis have HARM which is what they will probably be testing
.

These things didn’t look like the BUK’s the Russians are supposed to have used to bring down a civil airliner. No RADAR Unit and no Control Unit ..... but then the Russians didn’t have them in Ukraine either ..... damn, more bluff from the Ruskies!

The Israelis want to learn the capability of the BUK and S300. They also like to practice long rang Air Strikes all the way to Greece and return to Israel because it is similar distance to Iran.

Then why bother with Cyprus? They could try it for real by flying over Iran, they have S-300 as do the Russians. Simple test; The Israelis fly over Iran and if they don’t come back ...... then they can’t defend from the S-300. Back to the drawing board!

Oh coalition doesn't do partnerships with war criminals or side with one sectarian side over the other. They will never do that and make a billion Sunnis our enemy.

The US coalition are proven, not just accused, war criminals! The US doesn’t do ‘partnerships’ with anyone! Haven’t you Aussies worked that out yet? You do what they say ... and you have a ‘partnership’ but make no bones about it the US is ALWAYS the senior partner, the rest of the ‘partners’ are subordinate and do as they are told ......or else. They thought they could do it with Russia ..... how wrong can you be?

Syria is a SECULAR political and social System NOT sectarian. That is obviously difficult for you to grasp? That is why the majority of Syrians would rather have Assad than your moderate ‘head choppers’ You have just made millions of Sunnis your enemy by sending Shia Troops into the western outskirts of Aleppo. If the Iraqi army is shooting Sunni hostages, as they appear to be doing from recent reports, then the Shia would have a field day .... it would become a turkey shoot!

BTW: It has now been three weeks and your 'well trained' Iraqi army are still not in Mosul City. They have done the easy bit with coalition air support, artillery and tanks against small enclaves and villages but now they are beginning to run into real opposition and as I advised you, their advance is grinding to a standstill. They cannot move forward without air support, air attacks also kill civilians and destroy property ...... and you are then a war criminal. (according to your norms) Welcome to the real world of urban warfare.

Another miscalculation on the US’ part ? These Iraqi Troops do not have the stomach for a fight ..... they are only good at bullying, killing the un-armed or those that have little to fight back with. Latest estimate is that it will take many, many months or even years for the city to be re-captured......... if it ever is!

Incorrect. The CNG has...

2 x Israeli IAI Searcher (drone)
1 x Britten-Norman Defender (utility transport)
2 x Swiss Pilatus PC-9M (jet trainer)

I apologise  ..... I should have said COMBAT aircraft. I think that the Pilatus is no more (It's a jet turbine .... not pure jet) ..... didn't one crash at the hands of a young pilot performing aerobatics over his girlfriends house some years ago ...... they may have replaced it but I have seen nothing but the helicopters over me which is on their flight path to Zygi where they also have a unit of the CNG. I have never seen the Britten-Norman Defender at all. Maybe it is used normally for air-sea rescue and does not fly over us.

I don't really count reconnaissance drones a combat aircraft ........... at least not in my book.

You said “fixed wing aircraft” and that’s exactly what they are, but had you said “fixed wing aircraft I approve of” I wouldn’t have bothered responding.

Ah well...

I don't trust Israel... I hope these joint exercices do not give to them any valuable info about our defense systems.

Don't forget to mention your long white socks and sandals!

I never said Cyprus has any aircraft that can engage the IAF in the air. But saying they don't have fixed wing aircraft period is wrong. They have a pair of PC-12s.

And you wouldn't know what the Cypriots are bringing to the table. Some of their BUKs and Tor are already in the field and they are usually on the leeside of mountains to reduce shadowing in the Lee direction.

The Israelis like to learn about these systems like a good Aircorce should, and they are one of the best. When the time comes and it is necessary for them, they will pre-emptively strike those who they believe will strike them.

What they don't do is make stupid decisions. They also use the Greek S-300s to practice on which are exactly the same as the S400, only of shorter range.
