Animal protection Limassol (cats trapped on roof)

Postby dodo » Sun Dec 18, 2016 10:42 pm

Couple of weeks ago, some cruel, stupid teenagers, decided it was a good idea to throw a couple of cats on top of a roof nearby where I live. Haven't seen them in the act, otherwise I would've probably done something about it, but I have seen them tormenting other cats and there is no way they could have gotten up there by themselves. They cry day and night up there, we have thrown up some dry cat food., so did another neighbour..its a 2-story building with a pharmacy downstairs and some office upstairs but without any way to get up to the roof other than by ladder, spoke to the pharmacy owner but he just gave me a blank stare as if I was joking. Now with the rain and cold the poor things are suffering up there, and since we have a trip planned just before Christmas, we're worried they might not make it up there too long.

Is there any organization in Limassol dealing with animal protection that might help with this? In a normal country I would maybe call the fire department to help, but over here I wouldn't be surprised if they gave me a fine and had a laugh about it... :? If you have any numbers to call, would be much appreciated.

Are you being serious or making wise-cracks? Even if the police might be helpful, which I highly doubt, I don't see them carrying any tall ladders to get up there :-/

I think Lordo made a reasonable suggestion. You call the police and let them put the rescue into motion. The police calling the fire brigade would carry more weight than you or joe bloggs calling them.

If this building has the traditional flat rooftop then there’s always a staircase that leads to the top for maintenance etc. The keys to open the door should be with the building’s caretaker.

Whom are you and the pharmacy paying rent to? That's the person to contact.

no but they would have to call the firebrigade as they are the only ones who have the ladders. that way you cannot be accused of anything so long as you don't rong the emergency number and just the local police station, at worst they will tell you it is not something that they deal will and would hopefully suggest some sort of animal rescue organisation.

where is tim when you need him.
