As a TC, I don't believe that Papadopoulos wants a federal united Cyprus. What he wants is extention of what we have in the south to the whole island. This is my personal belief.
If he really wanted truly united Cyprus, he would have considered wishes and desires of TCs. Ask any TC about Papadopoulos and you'll see that hardly any TCs trust him as the president of Republic of Cyprus. He simply acts like the president of GC community but he tells to the world that he is the president of all Cyprus, representing all Cypriots. Now do you really think that such a person can really unite the island?
I believe that a solution can be found much easier if there was a president of Republic of Cyprus that really regarded himself/herself as the president of all Cypriots, TCs and GCs alike, that really believed in union and well-beingo of all Cypriots, and acted accordingly. |
