Hanged by the Brits March 14th 1957.

Any cause will suit a tyrant, this young man was wrongly accused and executed, his memory lives on in the hearts of many.......R.I.P.

How grim the blackened holes where men were burned alive, in Cyprus.
My uncle never ceased to point them out on our way to the beach over the mountains, there
where Durrell's house is not so far away. No one had to point them out,
then. Like now, we never forgot the price paid, for Freedom,
against subjugation; there is no rest for us because this fight continues.

...cheers, i will raise a glass tonight, i will light a candle.

Thanks for the reminder, Schnauzer (one of your better moments).

As another poster said, shame on the British - at least the Nazis stopped killing innocents in 1945!

I vividly remember that day when this brave young man was put to the gallows by the British colonialists. I was just under 11 years old then and very much aware of the struggle that was going on.He inspired the youth and instilled in us the need to support and join the struggle.

My older brother, then an EOKA, member knew Evagoras, they were almost the same age and both of course from Paphos.
RIP.
