Since the referendum I have lost count of the number of articles and opinion pieces which have tried to portray the result itself as one big racist, hate crime.

Of course, statistically it can also be shown that we have all since taken to beating up the gay community, whenever we can find their hiding places that is. That and what seems ever increasing pressure on/from the police, urging people to report anything they perceive as a "hate crime" (like these posts?). So, I actually take the polls, supposedly showing an exponential increase in such since 24th June, with a very hefty pinch of salt. I've neither seen nor heard any of it myself, wherever I've been. Well, apart from some of the threads in here that is.

It is you that has the phobias! You know what they say about statistics?

These sort of yobs don't need a rallying call to commit these sort of offences, they just take advantage of the relative freedoms (i.e. no check points, no groups of armed police on constant patrol with a shoot first and ask questions afterwards mandate) that exist in most countries in the civilised world. It has nothing much to do with xenophobia, any race/colour/age/sex that they pick on will do .......... unless they look like they could fight back and do them damage.

But IMO, they will get away with a reprimand or maybe a token stretch in prison, whereas they should get life (Min.25 yrs) for attempted murder in the toughest jails the country can offer.

They are on a par with the US when it comes to financial corruption maybe, but corruption in say the civil service is mostly unheard of ....... little brown envelopes get you a prison sentence in the UK and most European countries. But I agree with you ....... financial corruption is rife and on a scale most of us could not remotely comprehend.

Yep, and the EU was readying itself to end this corruption and start making the tax cheats using these British tax havens cough up - which, incidentally, would provide the National Health Service with a lot of funds - perhaps even 350 million pounds a week. Could this be the real reason the right-wing press barons so shamelessly stoked up the flames of bigotry amongst the dispossessed classes to engineer a leave vote, i.e. to hang on to their ill-gotten gains?

You obviously agree that the financial system is grossly exploited and under regulated ? But come on "..... the EU was readying itself to end this corruption" is a bit rich. The EU is more corrupt in general than the financial system, as is the ECB as it is part of the same monetary system . In all their years the EU have never balanced the books and billions have disappeared without trace ...... not taking into account the fiddles that the Commissioners practice and they are just as bad as the tax cheats practices in the Banking system.

As it goes, the Tax Havens are not illegal but they are something that are of massive benefit to the seriously rich and international corporations and most of them are in UK or US territory. Banking in its operation is nothing more than an accounting system and the way it works is absolutely fraudulent ...... if you or I tried to do it we would end up in jail!
