You mean how the people of Scotland, Gibraltar and the Falklands choose the "Londoncentric Imperialism"? Heck... why even Liverpool, Manchester etc should ruled by London? Lets return to the city states era so that every place can be independent from any other! Imperialism is when foreigners FORCE their will on territories where they aren't wanted. Imperialism is what the UK did, i.e. NOT allowing Cyprus to be part of Greece even though this is what the great majority of Cypriots wanted.

In a "vote" even more dodgy than the Turkish referendum and seemingly with project fear (of excommunication) being run by the Church...

Utter Bullshit. Why didn't the British make an official referendum as they were asked and as they did in the Falklands and Gibraltar? Because they knew very well what the result would be and that in this case it wouldn't be one that suit them. Nearly all Greek Cypriots wanted union with Greece in those times and this is a fact. There was a minority that disagreed with an armed struggle as means to achieve enosis, but the desire for enosis was nearly universal, even among the atheist communists.
