Because of failing to agree to a BBF, North Cyprus has now officially fallen under full Turkish control indefinitely and the EU and UN don't care! An oil rig has now been signed off in an official agreement at the MGK for it to be installed off the coast of northern Cyprus after huge reserve finds near Famagusta and Karpas.

I always knew the Greek Cypriots were stupid from being tricked by the English in 1960 with the treaty of guarantee, and again in 1963and on the 15th July 1974 with the Greek Coup, and also with the signing of the High Level agreements for a BBF in 1977, and with the entering of only half of Cyprus into the EU in 2004, but to also allow Turkey to manipulate you on this HydroCarbon scenario too takes the stupidity of your backward administration to a completely new level.
