Nice Hash on life support...

Postby Get Real! » Thu Dec 07, 2017 3:16 am

Nice Hash, the largest crypto-mining marketplace, has been hacked with over 4,000 bitcoins; supposedly worth $60 odd million, stolen!

https://www.nicehash.com/

Now I know why it’s called a “cryptocurrency”… someone can break in from the website’s crypt and take it all away from you!

I took this snapshot of their site at around 3:00am Thursday…

As a saying goes "Never invest in anything you can't illustrate with a crayon"?

I remember after the haircut of our banks in 2013 I was thinking to buy bitcoin, since our banks didn't seem any safer at that point. At that time 1 bitcoin was $100. I was too conservative to make such move. If at that time I bought just $10.000 worth of bitcoin, today my $10.000 would be $1.5 million :(

Hackers gave Nice Hash a 100% haircut and those who had digital wallets there for "safekeeping" now have none. You probably would’ve kept yours there too and lost it.

There is a risk... which is why I didn't do it. But if I knew that $10.000 could turn into $1.5 million in less than 5 years, then I would have certainly taken that risk! I also believe you don't need any place like Nice Hash to keep your bitcoin, you can keep them yourself.
