sk, I'd like to welcome you to Norway one day. The fjords (and the rest) are definitely worth seeing...however, don't forget to take a good supply of cucumbers Twisted Evil

I think salary levels are the main reason I don't go back to Cyprus. I was brough up there for a lot of my childhood but there's no way I could support my lifestyle on a Cypriot salary Sad

Hi Keti.

When you made your decision not to return to Cyprus did you consider your quality of life as well as your lifestyle?

Hiya vex8,

In answer to your question, indeed I did. I'm only 24 and I've been working for a year and a half since completing my masters. I'm managing to balance renting a house, owning (and insuring) a 600cc motorbike, going out to the extent that I enjoy and having a little (read: very little) amount of money left over each month to save up for a house deposit.

Realistically, I don't think I could manage all that if I lived in Cyprus. I've done a little bit of digging into comparative salaries and there isn't really much of a comparison at present. I'm keeping my eyes open to see what the Euro will bring, but for now I think that I'm better off in the UK, as much as I miss certain things about Cyprus.

True, keti it all depends what kind of job you are doing. I have a few friends in my age working there, in Banks or Accounting offices and all of them have reached quite amazing salaries.... more than 100,000 GBP per year... Of course they will never get this salary here. Quality Life? It all depends what you like. With all that money you can afford to have a weekend break around the Mediterranean and relax, but during the week you can live the busy London life.... This is one of the mistakes that I did quite some time ago... Sad If I get the chance I will definitely move there!
