Whatever Michael.
I'm not going to change your mind nor will you change mine.

EVEN if the kid did it for his God. Does it justify condeming a whole country for it?

Same goes for other friendly arab nations. The actions of few do not represent the feelings of the whole country, DO they?

Firstly, can I state that I think the cartoon should not have been published and was slightly irresponsible from the Danish (and other subsequent) newspapers.

However, the Muslim reaction has been way, way over the top. Can I also mention that I keep hearing people say that it is the reaction of a few. This I disagree with. While the action is from a minority, it is certainly more than a few. For example, there has been disgraceful violent protests in Iran, Syria, Lebanon, a Priest has been killed in Turkey (which Turkey itself has linked with the cartoons), there were large demonstrations in London, carrying obscene banners and one person even wearing a Suicide Bomber's outfit. There were large violent protests also in Indonesia and Afghanistan. Several people have died in Afghanistan. Indeed, Syria have even stopped all trade with Denmark! Over one independent newspaper's publishing? In a democracy, a government cannot tell independent Media sources what they can and can't print. Indeed, the Danish government have apologised for the offence caused. So how can you stop trading with the whole country?

It seems to me therefore, that it is certainly more than a few causing trouble here.

What the government say, goes. Doesn't mean that the whole population agreed with stopping trade.

Relations between the west and muslims are already tense, and even though the cartoons may seem minor the whole situation is a ticking timebomb; so I think the phrase "slightly irresponsible" is an understatement.

The case of the murdered Italian priest is not a point of discussion but a fact.
It is quite obvious that there are huge cultural chasm between us and Muslims. I find the notion of friendly Arab countries quite laughable. To whom are they friendly? Certainly not to the people being tortured in their goals, or maybe to the girls who are victims of rape being stoned, or to homosexual boys being thrown off cliffs, or people being beheaded in public.

Pasha, I was not saying that the whole population agreed with it. I was merely suggesting that the 'over the top' protests have been carried out by more than a 'select few.'

Relations between the west and muslims are already tense, and even though the cartoons may seem minor the whole situation is a ticking timebomb; so I think the phrase "slightly irresponsible" is an understatement.

OK, instead of slightly, I will say irresponsible. It still does not call for the kind of reaction that we have seen. Would you agree?

Wholeheartedly. There are better ways than using violence.
