My family and I will be moving to Cyprus in the near future.
Will my daughters, aged 12 and 8, who speak no Greek, be able to attend state schools?
We have made numerous enquiries as regards this subject and get very conflicting information.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks. |

The only place to give you a straight answer is the Ministry of Education:
Tel: +357 22800600, 22800700, 22800938
Fax: +357 22427559
EMail: moec@moec.gov.cy
What I can say, is that it would be extremely difficult for your kids, since all courses and all books are in Greek language.
If the "near future" is not "very near future" and you want to send your kids at a state school (there are several private schools that use English instead of Greek), then your daughters should start learning Greek intensively right now. |
