Thanks Tess,
I'll certainly let the forum know of the outcome..... I'm going to ring the embassy in England this afternoon as previously suggested in this topic.

Contact the Cyprus embassy closest to you.... as far as I know though, they basically cancel or erase that visa when you arrive at the airport. Be expected to wait a while though and they'll most likely treat you like crap.

BUT if you have an EU passport it is very unlikely that they will even notice... they just glance at your picture, then back at you... no worries. If they do, they'll be bitchy to you but that should be about it

I agree… with all my comings and goings to the UK the immigration guys at Pafos and Larnaca airports have never inspected my passport…

Hi, everyone, still ducking the bullets I see!
I somehow wish I'd never started this now!
Anyway, I said I'd update the forum with the final outcome, and indeed, as 'tcklim' mentioned, the cypriot embassay has confirmed that the stamp is erased at the airport when we arrive.
So thanks to everyone for their comments.
I'm looking forward to a nice relaxing holiday beginning the 22nd April 2006 in sunny Coral Bay. !

Does this also apply to passports stamped in Turkey?

Postby Nyle » Mon Apr 03, 2006 1:24 pm

Hi!

As the subject line says, will there be any reaction from airport staff as our passports have a number of Turkish stamps in them as we visit there regularly. Thanks!

European passports will barely be noticed. Any other passports or if they do look through yours, the most they can do is give you a look of contempt and be even ruder than they normally are, but they shouldn;t be able to deny you entry. Once you're inside everyone is friendly again :) Just don't go waving that passport around.

DONT WORRY

Postby lysi » Mon Apr 03, 2006 2:02 pm

Ayjvee, dont worry about the stamp in your passport, the greek cypriot authorities dont care, the republic of cyprus government never complains about the the fact that thousands of tourists fly to larnaca then go to the occupied north of cyprus for there nice cheap holidays.
As for you having a holiday in the occupied north well thats out of order, you are helping to prop up the illigal turkish occupation by spending money there.

ps, its only those mugs that support the occupation that call the north the trnc.

Hi to all,

Postby Nyle » Mon Apr 03, 2006 9:50 pm

Hi to all,

Welll let me be entirely blunt, if any member of the airport staff is either rude, or overtly obstructive I'll be

1. contacting my MEP! (totally useless git!)

2. booking up for Turkey next year.

We save up all year for our annual vacation, don't give a toss whether they or anyone else puts their political beliefs above and beyond my hard earned vacation. If the Cypriot people don't want my business then there are many other tourist resorts in the EEC who do.
