Hi, I'm just about to get my currency ready for the ol' holiday in Coral Bay and I'm wondering if it's still the Cypriot pound or is it now Euros? Does anyone know please?
Also, anyone know the best place to change £sterling at the best rates over there? (Unless it's only the banks)
Thanks.

Still the Cyprus Pound. I always change at the airport as I find them more competitive than the banks.

Hey ayjvee, do you really not even know what the local currency of cyprus is ?
Try buying a travel guide book on cyprus, there is more to cyprus then beaches.
good luck

lysi -unfortunately, the CTO seem to just push beaches and souvlaki when promoting Cyprus. There is more to Cyprus than beaches is just a shame that the CTO don't realise this.... Rolling Eyes

You know what? I sense just a little animosity on/in this forum! Why on earth are you all so nasty and snide? Do you have nothing better to do? I ask a few simple and honest questions and my(alleged) political bias is questioned, along with ridicule of my lack of knowledge concerning Cyprus! I'm even accused of supporting the so-called 'hostile' occupation of Northern Cyprus because I happened to visit there for a holiday. What on earth is wrong with you all? Can I respectfully suggest that rather than sitting at your computers waiting to snipe at someone, you all go out and GET A LIFE?!
I'm sure though, that despite your aggressive attitudes, I'll still manage to have a wonderful holiday in Coral Bay. (If that's Ok with all of you?)

ayjvee- don't worry about what a few members have to say. People seem to get agressive on this forum as it's the only outlet for alot of the problems in this country. This forum is a useful tool for anyone with questions on Cyprus but it is also a forum for people to expres views and opinions. More than often the Cyprus problem overlaps into every thread. Feel free to contribute or just sit back and read the postings.

Come to Cyprus. Have great holiday. I'm sure you'll have a better time than you did in the Occupied Areas Very Happy

Yeah, Twinkle, I owe you an apology. After I posted just now, I realised that I should have omitted your name from the generalised list! Like you, I try to be polite, but....................
I actually have another question, so I'll post a new topic and see what happens! Laughing

I think most of us try to be helpful and provide assistance to posters asking questions here. Very Happy

Sometimes it can be frustrating when the same questions are repeated over and over again… a quick check with the search facility can often answer the question.

Sometimes posters ask questions without even thinking…

We do our best. Wink

Sometimes posters ask questions without even thinking…........

There you go again! Pointing the finger because I asked an 'obvious' question! Didn't one part of Cyprus join the EU last year, or was it the year before? Hence my question about the currency.
Of course, I could have found the answer on 'Google' or some such search engine; I could also have delved into past posts on this forum too.
However, isn't that the general idea of forums.... to ask questions? If everyone used 'Google' or checked up on past posts, your forum would collapse!
So you see, I DID think before I asked the question! I was just mislead in my assumption that this forum would be full of helpful people.

Do you ALL have a chip on your shoulder? Why?
'Twinkle' seems to have been the only genuinely helpful member!

I've posted another question today asking about somewhere to stay close to Coral Bay. I won't be taken aback to find someone posting something along the lines of: "So what's wrong with Kyrenia?" or "Why have you chosen Coral Bay?"

Fight amongst yourselves and leave the rest of us out of it!! I didn't vote "Oxi" or "Ne" in 2005, I was just trying to have a relaxing holiday in Argaka. I didn't hate the South when I stayed in the North for two weeks last year either!

Are these the true colours of Cypriots?
