CYPRIOTS over the age of 21 no longer need to show an exit permit at passport control when leaving the country.
ooo oo oo now are we sure cos i would hate for my hubby to get to the airport and get sent away again! |

what if somone who is not cypriot decides to get cypriot citizenship, would he have to serve too?
I guess yes.
What is the idea behind this compulsory service?
Sometime back I asked the same question to a cypriot and he replied that if turkey decides to overrun the republic, then they can fight off turkey.
What kind of weapons does the army have?
What kind of planes does the airforce have?
What kind of ships does the navy have? |

dms007, cyprus has 2 military helicopters, but 1 is broken. they also have some navy jet skis that they can borrow from ayia napa, also they have several tanks but they dont have the balls to use them.
The national guard is controlled by officers from greece because no cypriot is capable to be in charge of its own army. |

| the real facts and figures are really nobody's business except for the army the navy and the airforce. I am sure that that stuff isnt meant to be talked about on forums. |

| I read in a Cyprus Mail article a few weeks ago that over a certain age you dont have to do service if you stay less than 3 months - then you do 3-6 months service but if your dad was Cypriot then you do the 24 months like the local Cypriots. You may want to check that. |

By the law of Republic of Cyprus a Cypriot father or Cypriot mother's child is automatically a citizen of Republic of Cyprus and has to do his army service.
But if the Cypriot parent is a Turkish-Cypriot he doesn't have to. Actually law says he has to but Cypriot army doesn't want that I guess |

Always
But you have to go to court and tell the court she is your daughter and do a few paper work. I gained my citizenship that way. My father is Cypriot. |
