New member here who has to stick up for this pleasant village! In fact joined this forum after typing "Mazotos" into Google & finding this thread!

We bought in Mazotos in 2004 after viewing a large number of properties in different parts of island, (South only, of course). Came down to a choice between Pissouri & Mazotos but we chose Mazotos as villa has a particularly nice location close to sea, lovely sea & mountain views, reasonably close to airport, mixture of Cypriots, English & English Cypriots as neighbours, attractive traditional village with a couple of excellent "supermarkets", good long term profit potential when golf course locally is completed, good swimming on quiet beach, plenty of local tavernas in nearby villages and not as "touristy" as some other places and so on.
Sadly we can only use our place as a holiday home but we've had 3 holidays there now & would heartily recommend to anyone......and our kids do enjoy the camel park & they don't smell (camels anyway!).

Svetlana,
The golf course is to be developed by the same company responsible for Aphrodite Hills. I was told when we were there last week that they are awaiting final permissions before they can begin work but that as the Cypriot Government is promoting the schme no problems are expected.
I think three years is the timeframe but from experience generally in Cyprus I would not be surprised if it took longer, but I'm pretty sure it will happen eventually.

Simon,
Probably do have a few without me & family obstructing the view! I'll take a look when I'm at home later.

Regards

Hi Simon

Lanitis and Cybarco developed Aphrodite Hills so, I guess it will be one of them. '3 years' ho ho ho! Five years minimum - and i hope they find the water from somewhere; it really worries me when this Government talks about 11 additional Golf Courses!

<Still if they take as long as our new: Marinas/Casinos/Attack Helicopters the water will not be requierd for some time!>

I thought all the ‘new golf course’ projects had been put on hold?

As far as I know the Tersafaneou (sorry, no map to hand so spelling may be out) golf course is going ahead, not sure about others. I think Lanitis & Cybarco are owned by the same people &, yes, as I understand it, it is they who are taking on this project.

Simon, sorry, couldn't find any photos of local views, will have to take some next time we're there.

In my opinion though it's a nice outlook to sea one way & to mountains, including monestary of Stavravouni, (doubtful spelling again) in the distance the other way.

Also fair to say that property market seems pretty bouyant in the area & prices continue to move steadily upwards.

So good luck!

Hi Simon,

We have been living in Mazodos for 2 years now. It has a large British population we choose to totally avoid them but if you want to mix no problem.

The village has a couple of good supermarkets, and a bar has just opened with SKY sports if that is your thing!. All in all we love it beacause we live in the middle fo the village with all Cypriot neighbours, everyone is friendly, helpful and generous (we never have to buy friut or vegetables) we are only 2 minute walk to the top of the hill to open countryside and either a 15 minute walk or 2 minute drive to the beach.

Zygi is a 15 minute car ride away for great fish restaurants and Pervolia is only a 10 minute drive in the opposite direction fo good village taverna's.

You are only a 15 min drive from the airport and Larnaca and the camels are placed up on the main road and nowhere near the village.

From our house you can see the Sea in one direction and the countryside and Stravouni monastry in the other. Can really recommend it as totally non touristy or worse England with Sun!

Hi Lindy,

Agree with all you say although have to add we did use the SKY bar a couple of times when we were there the other week to keep up with Arsenal games.

Wish we could live there permanently as well but sadly until kids grow up & mortgage cleared it will have to remain a holiday home.

One day...............

Simon.
