The politics of Football

Postby michalis5354 » Thu May 11, 2006 6:26 am

If football is driven by politics, then in simplistic terms politicians are nothing less than hooligans.

How else can any sane person understand the reasoning behind politicians continuing to fund bankrupt football clubs , where all other sports have been blatantly discriminated against.

President Papadopoulos chastised the clubs on Moday warning that they will not receive any further funding. But the biggest mistake was when the president and the whole political leadership were duped last year into bailing out the bankrupt clubs that are doing nothing to curtail hooliganism and off- pitch violence.

........

Some clubs have even reportedly refused to cooperate with the police to help combat this social gangrene , while the police themselves seem to have no specific policy or strategy when it comes to handling such matters.

We urge to President to clamp down all the football clubs that knowingly continue to harbour hooligans and vandals in their midst and though they are known vagabonds , the club chiefs refuse to point the finger of blame , possibly fearing reprisals themselves.

If this is the case , then adminitration and opposition forces are all to blame for the biggest financial scandal ever, of squandering the taxpayer's money that end up in club coffers with nothing in return

Politicians and hooliganism!

Football fans are too many. Politicians are afraid to sadden them. I think that teams should lose points if their fans create trouble. Only this way the problems will stop.

Funding Bankrupt Football clubs that do nothing to combat hooliganism is like supporting hooliganism!

Some clubs had refused to cooperate with the police to help combat hooliganism.

Do real Fans want to see hooligans then why do politicians support that funding!
