anyone interested in astronomy?

Postby astroboy » Fri Jul 21, 2006 2:37 pm

Hi everybody

Amateur astronomy is a very popular and well known hobby gathering more and more enthusiasts every day. I have put together a website, trying to gather all Cypriots and/or Cyprus residents of other nationalities and create an online "community" around this hobby. In the website you can find all the information you need to learn more about astronomy and by registering (free) you may share your thoughts/experiences/advice/questions with the other members.

If you have ever wondered whats going on above our heads, or what do astronomers look for through the telescopes, im sure a browse through AstroCyprus will answer many of your questions. Hope to see you there.

I will take a wild guess and say people get together and look at stars and moons and all that through telescopes...

I'm not sure if anyone else saw this, but on Thursday night around 11:30pm a bunch of us (including my forces partner) were sitting in an outdoor pub in Oroklini when all the sudden an extremely bright flash of light shot across the sky over the hill.. My partner and I immediately stood up and looked at one another with confusion.. With all that's happening next door in Isreal and Lebanon we honestly didn't know what it was.. If it was a shooting star, it was the biggest and brightest one i've ever seen in my life.. anyone else see this??
