PC Parts in Cyprus

Postby Judge Mental » Thu Dec 02, 2004 11:45 am

Is there anywhere in Cyprus (not North) where PC parts can be obtained? or is best to source bits from the UK?

There are many places that sell PC parts, but it will be more expensive. If you have free space in your bags then bring us much as you can with you.

It varies, according to the item, from 0 to 200%. If you make a short list (2 or 3 items) of the kind of stuff you are talking about, then I'll try and give you some indicative prices. If you insist on a particular make, you risk paying much more than a generic item. I buy quite a lot of stuff from Germany, the UK or, best, the USA.

One of the big problems here is locating items: two recent examples:

1. I wanted three Cherry programmable keyboards. I e-mailed Cherry and they responded that their agent for Cyprus was in Athens. I e-mailed this company: of course, no answer (you rarely get answers to e-mails, here). I bought then from a German mail-order + on-line sales company.

2. I wanted a dual-layer DVD burner and, from data gleaned off the net, chose Pioneer as being the model most likely to fill my needs. I found from the Pioneer web site the name of their importer. I e-mailed them about three weeks ago for info where I could buy this model and the price. No answer, of course, so I'm about to order it from the USA.

There is also mail order / online companies that will ship (for a cost) to anywhere in Europe, though of course this can be a problem if the item needs to be returned.
