Yeah discussing on "Will be Cyprus in EU?" is now not suitable i think.Cos its in EU now as whole. But the important one is what will be the affect of EU to Cyprus problem!

I think the effect is already obvious before we even joined.
Do you think that the "borders" would have opened if Cyprus was not accepted in the EU? And do you think tens of thousands of Turkish Cypriots would go in the streets to demonstrate for peace if it wasn't for the EU?

I think Turkish Cypriots realized that while the south is moving ahead they are stuck because of the policies of Denctash and Turkey and they do not want to sacrifice their futures just to serve some stupid military interests of Turkey anymore.

The effect is that now Turkey will occupy a part of the EU. It will not be Greeks VS Turks. It will be Europeans VS Turks.

yeah! i agree with you! its definetly gonna be Europeans vs Turks bec Turkey said there not gonna recognize cyprus even if they joins to EU! which is there saying that: we re not recognize European Union in a different way! i jus laughed! after a week later i read on the news that turkey calls greek cypriots to go there and have a holiday! then another news turkey doesn't allow turkish cypriots who holds trnc and cyprus passport there not allowed to leave their country for an holiday to other countries on via turkey! and they said on the news that ppl who hold these 2 passports if they wanna leave they can use only turkish passport to leave the country..which means they pushed turkish cypriots to get a turkish passport! i heard this news months ago..when they removed the borders! i think after a week later or something..turkey playing a very dangerous game with european union! thats what i'm thinking..what about u ppl? does anyone heard about these news? :|

Cyprus in the EU

Postby sussed » Thu Feb 05, 2004 11:58 am

Personally I worry about Cyprus becoming part of the EU, firstly what annoys the hell out of me is the fact that everything is becoming just so expensive I am not just talking about property prices I'm talking about the basics! Food, clothes, petrol, cigarrettes, going out, EVERYTHING and you would think that with all these price raises that our wages would also increase, HELL NO! There we are stuggling to survive, the poor getting poorer the rich getting richer how is the government helping the situation? They aren't doing JACK about the problem! I fear for a recession coming up or Cyprus will end up like Greece where everything is just TOO expensive peoples wages are terribly low and everyone just struggles to survive! Also please may I add that I have lived and worked both in Cyprus and the UK and I must inform you that ok the property prices may be more expensive in the UK but the way of life IS ACTUALLY CHEAPER!!!!! Plus it's not a struggle when the lowest wage is 5-6 pounds AN HOUR! We are lucky if we get 500 pounds a month! ITS DISGUSTING! What is the government going to do to help the working class!

Thanks Final Fantasy! So there you have it not all properties in the UK are expensive!

Am I the only one that feels this way?

I hope not!
